This is Ellen

Ellen is my big in Theta. When I first met her as my big I had no idea who she was. I tried so hard to look so happy and enthusiastic while at the same time trying to figure out what her name was. Even though I didn’t know her I felt in my heart that I already loved her. We turned and began awkwardly dancing at each other instead of speaking but that language was good enough for us both to know that it was a match. 

Ellen is the blessing I never knew I needed. She is a role model and a mentor. Ellen has spent the majority of her summers working for Camp Ozark ministering to young children and serving as influence. Her fire and flame for her position here is so strong and so amazing. 

This year I have had the opportunity to watch Ellen’s relationship with the Lord spark. I’m not even sure if she knows it has—but girly, it has. One day at bible study Ellen had an “ah haaa” moment when she discovered her relationship with Christ wasn’t just a “hey i’m a Christian I’m good to go” but a “Lord, I need to pursue a relationship with you every day.” Seeing this discovery was amazing to me. 

Lacy, Gracie, Alondra, Lauren and I (the inseparable peeps) welcomed Ellen into our group and that’s the best decision ever made. Not only did we get a funny, dancing queen but every now and then she brings around her boyfriend, Robert. Robert is a life of the party, social butterfly, but also so good for Ellen. 

Ellen is also so proud to be a big sister to her little sister, Olivia. For someone I’ve never met I feel like I love her too. Ellen loves her family with her whole heart. It’s truly inspiring. 

Ellen, you’re filled with so much joy and I so proud of you. I am the most glad that we got paired up because my life without you would be dull. 

I can’t wait to hear about your amazing summer at Camp Ozark. You’re going to change so many lives. My hope for you is to continue pursuing an active relationship with God. You are so very loved.
